A few words about me

I am currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL Switzerland).
I received my PhD from EPFL, where I have been a member of the DIAS lab.
Before that, I received my BSc and my MSc from the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications (DIT) of the National Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Between 2009 and 2012 I worked as a scientific programmer and research assistant in the EU FP7 projects SemsorGrid4Env and TELEIOS.
For the same period, I was also a member of the MaDgIK research group.
My current research interests can be summarized by the following word cloud, which I will try to update often.

I am one of the main developers of Strabon, a fully implemented semantic geospatial database system, and one of the fastest around.
I am currently working on data analytics over heterogeneous data and hardware. My work heavily employs just-in-time, code-generated query operators, as well as hardware accelerators such as GPGPUs.
